This map shows the burial sites of thirteen Civil War veterans from The Hills. These site numbers correspond to each veteran’s cemetery record. From the United States Navy: Aaron Halstead, Jr. 8023.20. From the Fourteenth Rhode Island Regiment, Heavy Artillery, Colored Volunteers (Eleventh USCT): Benjamin Barker 8020.20, David Barker 8016.20, William H. Brooks 8018.20, Joseph Griffin 8017.20, Alfred Seymour 8021.20, and William Henry Seymour (both var. Seymore) 8022.20 . From the Twenty-ninth Connecticut Regiment, Infantry, Colored Volunteers: Thomas Butler 8015.20, John C. Lockwood 8019.20, Robert Odell Mitchell 8011.20, and John Purdy 8012.20; and from the Twentieth Regiment, Infantry, USCT: William Purdy 8014.20 and John Brown 8013.20. Asbury Colored People’s Church, the site of The Hills church, is shown next to the cemetery map.
